Artist's Statement
I started doing political art on a small scale in 1991, after the first Iraq war.
After moving from the Chicago suburbs eight years ago, living and working in Arizona and California,
I was prompted to expand my focus because of the problems I saw locally in my new areas.
I had started a gallery, and so could show what I pleased. I began doing shows drawn from
local injustices that I saw and experienced.
After George Bush took office and began the new Iraq War, however, I again branched out to attack another war that I saw to be unjust, and also to attack the Patriot Act’s reductions in our own personal freedoms and privacy. I have been asked what I will do when Bush leaves office. I don’t see that as problem, unfortunately, because as long as there are politicians and public officials, there will be problems and corruption to be exposed. |
