Artist's Statement
My work is a reflection of my personal and most
deeply felt feelings about people and society. I am concerned with
both the joys and sorrows, injustices and ironies of life
as I see it. I try to follow, in my own way, in the footsteps of the
great social realist painters such as Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Goya,
Daumier, L'hermitte, Repin, and Kollwitz who, for the most
part, did not compromise their integrity to conform to the wishes of
the establishment of their time. Likewise I am committed to
realistic art because it better reflects the dignity of humanity and for this reason I have resisted conforming to the pressure of the art
establishment's abstract world of the twentieth century.
